In July 2019, the Company has provided assistance in transportation of passengers from the Irael and Zelenoborsk stations to the Sosnogorsk station of the Komi Republic. Due to adverse weather conditions (heavy rains), a section of railway tracks eroded, which resulted in disrupted train traffic at the Kerki station in Sosnogorsk District. At the request of the government of the Komi Republic, Transneft North provided buses for passenger transportation.
From 22 to 23 July, buses ran the following routs: the Sosnogorsk railway station – the Zelenoborsk station, the Irael station – the Sosnogorsk station. In total, about 300 passengers were transported. The average length of the route was 140 kilometres, the travel time – 3 hours. On 24 July, the train traffic through the Kerky station of the Severnaya railway was restored.
The operations of Transneft North, a subsidiary of Transneft, are important for the development of the Timan-Pechora Oil and Gas Basin. The main purposes of the Company are oil acceptance and transportation through oil trunk pipelines to refineries and for further export deliveries. Transneft North is involved in social and charitable activities in the areas of its operation. In addition, the Company provides assistance to municipal institutions in case of abnormal situations that have the potential to become emergencies.
