Transneft North is preparing its facilities for uninterrupted operation during the spring floods.
Along the Usa – Ukhta and Ukhta – Yaroslavl oil trunk pipelines (OTP), in areas vulnerable to scouring, experts of Transneft North are inspecting and performing additional strengthening of pipeline sections, communications facilities, route power line pylons and cable power supply lines.
Seasonal maintenance which involves checking the complete opening and closure of stop valves along pipelines and at oil pumping stations is being performed both remotely and on the sites, flooding prevention and drainage of meltwater are being arranged. Inspection is carried out at air escape valve manholes, inspection manholes at OTP crossings with roads and railways, as well as at instrumentation manholes along the line; protective constructions and culverts are being cleared of snow, dikes of sites and communications facilities are being restored.
Particular attention is paid to the preparation of oil pipelines’ underwater crossings with rivers and small watercourses: pipeline telemetry systems are being checked, and marker posts are being inspected and repaired at OTP underwater crossings through navigable rivers.
Also, as part of the preparatory work, specialists will perform maintenance of mechanical and process equipment of the oil pumping stations (PS), check the operability of water supply systems, industrial and utility drainage and treatment facilities. It is planned to conduct a set of works to prevent flooding of station structures, tank farms, sealing of basement premises, pump houses, as well as to remove meltwater.
Equipment for containment and elimination of emergency oil and petroleum products spills is being inspected, as well as equipment for pumping water: motor pumps, special-purpose and firefighting vehicles.
In order to ensure uninterrupted operation of the facilities of the motor-vehicle business units of Transneft North during the spring floods, fuel, lubricants and other materials necessary for stable operation of the company's facilities during the spring floods are being delivered. In addition, water transport is being prepared for the navigation season, seasonal maintenance and evaluation of the technical condition are being carried out, the availability of self-recovery equipment and lifejackets are being provided for swamp vehicles.
In order to ensure emergency-free operation during the flood period, Transneft North has arranged cooperation with the EMERCOM of Russia, as well as with the Russian Unified Emergency Rescue Service in the territory of Transneft North’s trunk pipeline system in the Komi Republic, Arkhangelsk, Yaroslavl and Vologda Regions.
The operating facilities of Transneft North include the Usa – Ukhta and Ukhta – Yaroslavl oil trunk pipelines of more than 1,5 thousand km in length. The corridors of the oil trunk pipelines run across the territory of 4 regions of the Russian Federation: the Komi Republic, Arkhangelsk, Vologda and Yaroslavl Regions. The set of anti-flood operations will ensure uninterrupted operation of the pipelines during the spring floods.
